SkillsHouse Engagement Officer (4 X 18.5 hours per week)
Hours vary: Monday–Thursday between 3pm–8pm + alternate Saturdays.
Band 7: £28,142 - £31,022 per annum (pro rata)
Hybrid with Community Outreach across Bradford District

We are seeking to recruit dedicated and enthusiastic SkillsHouse Engagement Advisers to join SkillsHouse, Bradford Council’s all-age careers and employability service.
Engagement Advisers are the front-line service of SkillsHouse. These roles focus on telephone and email contact with service users and community outreach. To provide the best support to clients there will be regular evening and weekend working.
SkillsHouse aims to address skill gaps in the local labour market and improve employment and economic outcomes for Bradford residents. Engagement Advisers play a vital role in building trusted relationships with participants and delivering holistic, personalised support through the SkillsHouse partnership network.
The key purposes of the post are:
- To be a first point of contact for Bradford residents looking for employability support.
- To ensure that referrals and requests for support are picked up in a timely manner and allocated to the right team or service.
- To undertake outreach activities across the district.
- To respect the needs of all clients, especially those facing barriers due to ethnicity, sexuality, disability or other factors.
- To maintain impartiality, treat people fairly and with dignity, and be aware of the barriers people face.
- To be flexible in developing the role and undertake any other duties in line with the post.
Please note, successful applicants will be required to work out-of-office hours including evenings and alternate Saturdays on a rota basis.
The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer-facing posts must be assessed to establish their fluency in English. The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile outlines the level of fluency required. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
