About Us
Bradford Hate Crime Alliance (BHCA) is a registered charity with over 30 years of experience combating hate crime across Bradford and its district. As a trusted partner of Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police, we develop and deliver anti-hate strategies, third-party reporting pathways, and victim support services that genuinely make a difference.
We believe every person has the right to live, work and move freely through their community without fear. Our work brings communities together, championing inclusivity, and ensures that every voice particularly those most marginalised is heard and acted upon.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and resilient individual to join our team as Hate Crime Coordinator. This is far more than a coordination role you will be at the heart of BHCA's work, directly supporting people who have experienced hate crime, managing our network of reporting centres, building community relationships, and working in partnership with Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Police, Victim Support, Restorative Justice and the voluntary sector.
This is a role for someone who is passionate about justice, inclusivity and community, and who brings both the energy to take on challenging casework and the organisational skills to keep a complex service running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct advocacy and support to victims of hate crime, working alongside West Yorkshire Police Hate Crime Officers.
- Manage and quality-assure BHCA's network of Hate Crime Reporting Centres across Bradford.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community groups, faith organisations, statutory partners and businesses.
- Design and deliver training and educational workshops to schools, community organisations and professionals.
- Prepare monitoring reports and contribute to strategic planning and evaluation.
- Manage digital communications, including the BHCA website and social media.
- Supervise volunteers and students on placement.
What We're Looking For
You don't need a specific formal qualification what matters is your experience, values and commitment. You must be able to demonstrate:
Essential:
- Experience managing or coordinating projects or services, ideally with vulnerable or marginalised groups.
- Strong understanding of equal opportunities, diversity, and their real-world impact.
- Knowledge of hate crime legislation and the landscape of support services.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong report-writing ability.
- A calm, empathetic and professional approach, including in difficult or emotionally charged situations.
- Confidence working independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Commitment to safeguarding and GDPR principles.
Desirable:
- Experience in the voluntary or community sector.
- Hands-on experience in a hate crime, victim support or community development role.
- Training or qualifications in community development, advocacy, criminology or a related field.
What We Offer
- A genuinely meaningful role with real community impact.
- A supportive, values-driven team environment.
- Opportunities for professional development and training.
- Flexibility in working arrangements where service needs allow.
