Careers and Employment Lead Adviser

Job Introduction

Ready to make a real difference in Bradford? We’re seeking a proactive and inspiring Careers & Employment Lead Adviser who brings passion, leadership, and a commitment to improving outcomes for local residents

We’re especially keen to hear from highly experienced operational managers who are ready for a new challenge, thrive in a target‑driven fast paced environment, and enjoy leading people to achieve great results.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of Employment and Careers Advisers, driving high‑quality support across the district and ensuring our services make a real impact.

Our teams are active in localities, meaning our Lead Advisers spend time both in the office and in the community. This isn’t a home-based role.

What you’ll do:

· Provide clear, confident leadership to a team of Employment and Careers Advisers, inspiring high performance and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional IAG across Bradford.

· Drive a culture of accountability and excellence, ensuring performance management processes are robust, supportive, and focused on continuous improvement.

· Lead on setting direction and priorities, translating strategic goals into practical actions that deliver meaningful outcomes for residents.

· Champion professional development, coaching and supporting staff to grow their skills, confidence, and impact.

· Strengthen partnerships and raise the profile of the service, representing SkillsHouse with credibility and building collaborative relationships across the district.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in leading people to achieve collective and individual goals.
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach to working.
  • Knowledge of the careers and employability landscape across all age-groups.
  • Ability to lead, influence and support others to achieve great outcomes.
  • Strategic thinking and confidence working across diverse settings.
  • Level 6 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance (or equivalent)

Candidates invited to interview will deliver a short presentation (topic provided in advance).

An enhanced DBS check  with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be sought for appointees to this post.
