Job Introduction
Bradford Virtual School for Children in Care is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for Children Looked After, Children with a Social Worker and those Previously Looked After and/or in Kinship Care. We support schools’ proactive planning, react to the unexpected and remove barriers to progress. We are looking for energetic, flexible and resilient colleagues to join our highly regarded team of Associate Teachers.
These posts are likely to appeal to teaching colleagues who enjoy working with children and young people to overcome barriers to learning. The idea of supporting children and young people at mutually convenient times will appeal on a professional and personal level.
Associates will develop and deliver short term interventions in education placements with children in care of all ages who need additional support to progress with their learning. This can be on a one to one basis or in the form of supporting several children in care in a school / home setting or remotely through Virtual Learning platforms.
You will be expected to actively promote inclusive practices and ensure the education, social, emotional and health development of Virtual School pupils is fully supported.
Associates will actively promote inclusive practice within the classroom setting to ensure acceptance of all children.
Candidates will need to demonstrate:
- Understanding and commitment to raising standards and attainment for children in care
- Teaching experience within the primary, secondary or further education phases
- Experience of multi-agency working and understanding of the needs of vulnerable groups
- An understanding of strategies to support education providers to meet the needs of children in care
You will be prepared to work flexibly in terms of hours and location.
Work is occasional and is offered on a case by case basis.
