Job Introduction
The four venues of Bradford Theatres are run by the department of place:
- The Alhambra Theatre is regarded as the North’s premier receiving venue and has been delighting audiences for over 100 years with an exciting mix of musicals, drama, dance, and Yorkshire’s biggest pantomime.
- The Studio is an intimate black box theatre adjacent to The Alhambra that is popular with up-and-coming stand up comedians and as a rehearsal space.
- St George’s Hall is one of the UK’s oldest concert halls and hosts the best in live music, comedy, variety, and children’s shows.
- King’s Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley hosts a wide range of performances, weddings, parties, lifestyle fairs and community events.
Front-of-House Team
The front-of-house department, of which this role is a part of, are responsible for the efficient running of events, the safety and security of patrons and staff, delivering exceptional customer service, maximising the income generated through the sale of ice creams, confectionary, soft drinks, merchandise, and programmes, and promoting diversity and inclusion within our venues.
We are looking to appoint casual house managers to join our award-winning customer service team. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people who can demonstrate experience of managing busy hospitality environments and who have a passion for live theatre and music.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Working with other departments and visiting companies to ensure the efficient operational management of live events.
- Health and safety of all patrons and staff, and the security of the buildings and their assets; this includes being a first aider and a fire warden, responding to incidents and leading on emergency evacuations, being a keyholder who regularly opens and locks up the buildings, and managing up to 30 third party security staff at a time.
- Delivering exceptional customer service by motivating a team of up to 25 ushers, supervisors, daystaff, and stage door receptionists at a time, dealing with customer issues, and handling complaints.
- Maximizing auxiliary sales, cash handling, and cashing up.
- Actively promoting diversity and inclusion within our venues and our workforce.
Working Conditions
Please note that the majority of this role will be based at our 3 city centre venues, however there may be occasional work required at King’s Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley.
The role is offered on a zero-hour contract which may mean long periods of no work being available dependant on the operational needs of the business.
