Job Introduction
The Bereavement Service provides a high quality and sensitive service to a wide range of faiths and cultures across the District in the administration and delivery of over 4,000 funerals per year. The service requires a cemetery operative to join a small team carrying out burials initially within the Bradford constituencies. The work will mainly involve the excavation of grave plots, attendance at funerals and other activities connected with the maintenance of cemeteries and closed church yards. To be a successful candidate you must have:
- A current Full UK Driving Licence
- Two years’ outdoor manual experience in general construction, building or hard landscaping work
- Working knowledge of Risk Assessment and Safe Working Guide processes
- The ability to conduct yourself appropriately and deal with members of the public often in sensitive situations.
- The ability to sustain periods of heavy physical effort, sometimes during inclement weather
Previous experience of grave digging, brickwork, shoring or use of horticultural equipment would be an advantage.
