Communications & Training Officer

Job Introduction

The Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Service is responsible for the licensing, inspection and enforcement of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers, vehicles and operators across the Bradford District.  The key objectives of the service are to promote public safety for the public using taxi and private hire vehicles.

We are looking for a Customer Service, Communication & Training Officer to join the Customer & Business Support Team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. 

 The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and assist with specific projects. Deal with the public and the trade regularly. Liaise with other authorities to share best practice and experiences. Attending meetings as required
  • A working knowledge of legislation that regulates hackney carriage and private hire licensing. Good communication skills, both written and oral, to deal confidentially and diplomatically with a range of audiences. Ability to prepare non-standard letters, create letter and email templates and train staff on the use of such.
  • Responds to complaints and enquiries from service users, member of the public, elected members and public services including the police. Prioritise and manage own workload effectively and in a timely manner, when necessary carry out investigations, conclude and communicate the outcomes
  • Ability to handle private, confidential and sensitive information. Respond to FOI, SAR, NR3 and associated requests. Ensure confidentiality, evidence integrity, data protection (GDPR), information security and regulatory requirements are met. 
  • Support the Service with the development & delivery of training packages to prospective/existing licence holders across all mediums including E Learning.  Review and select content appropriate to the target audience.
