Job Introduction
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Integrated Assessment Team (SENDIAT) plays a vital role in supporting children and young people with SEND. Responsible for conducting Education, Health and Care Assessments, issuing and maintaining Education, Health and Care Plans, and overseeing Annual Reviews, the team ensures that tailored support is provided effectively. Working closely with families, educational institutions, health professionals, and other stakeholders, the team coordinates services to help individuals achieve their potential. Within this structure, the Business Support Team provides essential administrative functions to enable the smooth operation of the SEND team, underpinning its commitment to delivering high-quality services for children, young people, and their families.
We are looking for an EHCP Officer to work within SEND Integrated Assessment, who can work proactively with key staff and managers to provide an interface between services, members of the public, other public sector bodies and external agencies.
An EHCP Officer is the equivalent of a Business Support Officer. As such, it is an admin focused role within SENDIAT. A brief summary of the duties include:-
- Processing of Education, Health and Care Assessments from referral, to the point of issuing the Final EHCP.
- Initiating EHCA requests via our SEND Online Portal, or by other means, on our database.
- Requesting and processing Stage 1 and Stage 2 advice.
- Issuing of Draft and Final EHCPs.
- Provide administrative support to the SEND locality teams, and the Complex & Vulnerable Team. Consisting of Casework Officers, Senior Education Officers, Annual Review Officers, and SEND Management.
- Responsible for training new EHCP Officers within the group and giving support to the team in line with changes in policy and working practices
- Responsible for ensuring daily post received is dealt with appropriately in line with SEND Code of Practice requirements and local policy
- To deal effectively with visits, telephone calls, correspondence and complaints from parents, other agencies, and support services, providing advice in line with local policy and the SEND code of practice where appropriate. Referring to Senior Education Officers or Casework Officers when required
- Responsible for ensuring that documents produced and distributed by SEND Integrated Assessment Team are completely accurate and portrayed to the highest standard.
As the role follows a hybrid working pattern, the successful candidate is able to work from home however, this is based on service need, and/or the person’s ability to do so effectively and efficiently. During the 12-week induction period, they will be required to work from the office, Monday – Thursday 9am – 5:00pm (or 5:30pm if they would like to take a 1 hour lunch break) and 09:00am – 4:30pm (5:00pm if they would like to take a 1 hour lunch break) on a Friday. Following the induction and based on approval, the person will be added to our telephone rota and will only be required to come into the office on days they are due to cover the phone. This is usually around 2 days per week but can be increased depending on sickness, holidays, and general service requirements.
