Job Introduction
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Integrated Assessment Team (SENDIAT) plays a vital role in supporting children and young people with SEND. Responsible for conducting Education, Health and Care Assessments, issuing and maintaining Education, Health and Care Plans, and overseeing Annual Reviews, the team ensures that tailored support is provided effectively. Working closely with families, educational institutions, health professionals, and other stakeholders, the team coordinates services to help individuals achieve their potential. Within this structure, the Business Support Team provides essential administrative functions to enable the smooth operation of the SEND team, underpinning its commitment to delivering high-quality services for children, young people, and their families.
We are looking for 3 EHCP Officers to work within SEND Integrated Assessment, who can work proactively with key staff and managers to provide an interface between services, members of the public, other public sector bodies and external agencies.
The main responsibilities of the post are:
- Responsible for initiating, coordinating and monitoring requests for statutory assessment of special educational needs under
- Responsible for coordinating statutory framework procedures for pupils with Education, Health & Care plans
- Responsible for coordinating and monitoring statutory framework procedures each year for pupils transferring between phases of education
- To assist Casework Officers in arranging suitable placements and provision for pupils at mainstream schools, special schools and resources
- To assist Casework Officers when other authority pupils with Education, Health & Care plans move into the Local Authority
- Responsible for training new EHCP Officers within the group and giving support to the team in line with changes in policy and working practices
- Responsible for ensuring daily post received is dealt with appropriately in line with SEND Code of Practice requirements and local policy
- To deal effectively with visits, telephone calls, correspondence and complaints from parents, other agencies, and support services, providing advice in line with local policy and the SEND code of practice where appropriate. Referring to Senior Education Officers or Casework Officers when required
- Responsible for ensuring that documents produced and distributed by SEND Integrated Assessment Team are completely accurate and portrayed to the highest standard
