Finance Apprentice Post

Job Introduction

This is an apprentice position and therefore the salary will be as follows: 

16/17: - Year 1 - £14,521

              Year 2 - £22,800

18 and above: -

 Year 1 - £21,122

 Year 2 - £25,482

West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) is a leading Local Government Pension Fund and one of the UKs largest pension funds, based in Bradford. Due to our increasing Shared Service provision with other pension funds we now require two Finance Apprentices to join our small, friendly team based in Aldermanbury House in Bradford City Centre.

The Finance Apprentice role is one which requires accuracy and attention to detail, where your skills and versatility will be utilised to support the WYPF Finance Team

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role (AAT) and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

We are looking for an individual who is committed to undertaking level 2 Accounts or finance assistant and level 3 Assistant accountant apprenticeships.

To qualify for the apprenticeship, you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C/9-4  or have Level 1.

Please note that if a candidate possesses a qualification at the same level or at a higher level in the same specific subject area as the advertised apprenticeship the candidate would not be eligible for apprenticeship funding and therefore must not apply. If unsure please enquire. 

To meet the apprenticeship funding requirements, you must be entitled to work in the UK and have been a resident for 3 years.

Key duties of the Finance Apprentice include:

  • Processing monthly data returns which have been submitted to the WYPF. These files are submitted on a monthly basis from over 800 employers. Once processed, exceptions are dealt with and once resolved the records for the active member’s in the scheme are updated on the Pension Funds database. 
  • Provide administrative and accounting support across WYPF Finance Team and WYPF Services.
  • Ensure work is compliant with council policies, LGPS and financial regulations.
  • Provide routine supporting information as required by senior officers.
  • Ability to complete tasks within deadlines so that team priorities are met.

A Disclosure check with Barred List will be undertaken for this post.
