Job Introduction
The HR Advisory Service is a telephone based advisory service that provide specialist advice and guidance to managers on HR related topics. As an advisor, you will have an active caseload of between 80 to 100 cases. You will attend formal hearings to ensure processes are followed and provide support and coaching to managers on best practice and employment law. You will run training sessions for managers on related HR topics and work to build manager capability on people management.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join our dedicated team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. Reporting to the HR Advisory Team Manager, the successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team, delivering effective HR advice support to managers across the Council's HR & OD function and wider organisation.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Provide high quality advice and practical support to all levels of management on employee relations matters
- Ensure that all advice is compliant with latest employment law, national and local government arrangements.
- Coach managers, helping them to resolve their workforce concerns in a way that builds confidence that managers can increasingly deal with concerns without needing substantial HR support
- Act as the lead on complex cases ensuring that managers are fully aware of their responsibilities, whilst ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented consistently and effectively.
- Ensure casework is undertaken in a timely manner, and attend hearings and appeals, so as to ensure that policy, process and targets are met.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with other services, such as legal, OH and Corporate fraud, Trade Unions to ensure we are remaining consistent and effective in our application.
- Prepare and maintain accurate recording of cases notes whilst adhering to confidentiality and GDPR legislation.
- Deliver training for leaders and managers face to face or online depending on the needs of the organisation.
