Job Introduction
Bradford is on an extraordinary journey.
As the UK City of Culture 2025, the district is embracing a bold new era, one that is rooted in creativity, investment, and community. It’s already driving a cultural and economic transformation that’s reshaping the place around us. Across the district, change is both visible and tangible. Cranes are rising, places are being reimagined, and communities are beginning to feel the benefits of long-awaited regeneration.
Flagship projects like the pedestrianisation of the city centre are creating more welcoming, accessible public spaces designed around people, not traffic. The restoration of Bradford Live has brought a legendary venue back to life, ready to boost our cultural and night-time economy. Meanwhile, Darley Street Market is set to become the spot for good food, local crafts and amazing experiences. These milestones mark the start of something bigger - a growing confidence in Bradford’s future, and a belief that the district’s moment has truly arrived.
Ambitious developments like City Village and the Southern Gateway will fast-track Bradford’s next chapter of growth. City Village will reshape the city centre’s residential landscape, bringing in new homes, shops, and leisure spaces to create a vibrant, modern neighbourhood. Whilst, the Southern Gateway will unlock transport-led regeneration, with new rail and mass transit links accelerating connectivity, investment, and economic momentum across the district.
With significant regeneration investment and major developments underway, Bradford is stepping into its most ambitious phase yet.
We’re now looking for an exceptional Head of Major Projects to lead this next chapter.
Role Description
As Head of Major Projects, you’ll sit at the heart of Bradford’s transformation, leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital programmes that shape the places where people live, work and connect.
You will provide and lead on project management and specialist technical advice to support a wide range of project types, including schemes for housing, education, infrastructure, public realm improvements, and sports and leisure.
Working closely with the Strategic Director of Place and the Assistant Director of Economy and Development Services, you’ll help provide leadership, vision, and direction to deliver major capital programmes that align with Bradford’s wider regeneration ambitions.
