Built Environment within the Council's Assets and Facilities Management Service looks after the development of new and the maintenance of existing Council's property assets. The Council's property portfolio is varied including corporate offices and depots, leisure centres, libraries, residential homes, other community facilities and schools. Our projects range from the construction of new schools to day-to-day reactive property maintenance along with developing programmes of activity to reduce the environmental impact of the Council's estate.
We are looking for a Construction (Design & Management) CDM Health and Safety Advisor to join our dedicated team in the Corporate Resources Department.

The main responsibilities of this role:
- To effectively contribute to the delivery of activities and projects allocated to the health and safety team,
- Take a pivotal role in ensuring Council construction projects are run effectively and safely with the health of all involved protected,
- To undertake duties as a Principal Designer, providing advice to the Client, Professional Servies Team, Principal Contractor, and the collating / analysis of Pre-Construction information into a PCIP; including the development of the Health and Safety File.
- Ensure submissions of the F10 Notification to the HSE are completed and that reviews of Construction Phase Plans prior to the commencement of site works are undertaken.
- Understand / Evaluate and where necessary assist or create Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe System of Works, Design Risk Management and Risk Registers.
- To produce guidance notes and assist in the preparation of health and safety audits, safety briefs and relevant training / awareness / toolbox talks.
- Having an eye to the future to stay informed of the challenges and changes impacting the building construction sector and then sharing that knowledge with colleagues and clients so that the service always remains fit for purpose.
- Working closely with colleagues across Built Environment to deliver its service plan objectives.
