Job Introduction

Senior ISP Business Integration Join the Business Integration Team as an ISP in Bradford Council’s IT Services!

The Business Integration team is a small team comprising the Business Integration Manager and three ISP posts, looking after many of the Council's corporate systems.  This team is part of the wider Systems and Architect team working within IT services.


We are looking for an experienced developer to join the team and help in the delivery of integration and development work as well as application support and maintenance.  The successful applicant will work closely with the Business Integration Manager and will coordinate team activity to ensure optimum team performance. Excellent communication skills are required to liaise effectively with customers, third party suppliers and members of the other IT teams. Experience of looking after corporate systems is essential. Some knowledge of one or more of the following third party systems would be advantageous: 

  • NEC (formerly Northgate) Revenues and Benefits System
  • Access Group (formerly Capita) Payments system
  • Imperial 360 – Carparks, Bus lanes and Clean Air Zone
  • SEFAS Bulk Printing
  • Civica Blue Badge
  • Bottomline PT-X

The team is also responsible for integration of systems and utilises IBM’s MQ and ACE (broker) alongside OpenText MIM for many of the integrations and transports. This includes development in ESQL to interface with our SAP ECC6 system.  The SAP system is currently under review and this gives the successful applicant the opportunity to be involved in the integration work which will be required when the SAP system migrates.Proven experience in python is essential as the team are currently undertaking a large piece of work to migrate the bulk printing solution from Sefas Openprint (C++) to Sefas Designer (python).Unix skills including shell scripting are also an essential requirement as well as having some SQL skills for interrogating (and sometimes updating) Oracle and SQL Server databases. An understanding of Windows batch scheduling and Perl would be an added advantage. The ability to pick up new skills quickly and an aptitude for logical and methodical problem solving is an essential requirement. The applicant should be able to work as a team player but also be able to work diligently under their own initiative.
