Job Introduction
The desktop 3rd line team is part of the Service Operations service, its primary responsibilities are for the management of the council's end user desktop estate and infrastructure.
We are looking for an experienced 3rd line support engineer to join our dedicated team in the IT Services Department. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Advanced desktop support at a 3rd line level within a Wintel environment
- Supporting virtual desktop environment – Windows Hyper-V and RDS
- Support of endpoint enterprise management technologies
- MDM - Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, Samsung Knox
- Active Directory on premise and Azure/Entra
- Endpoint personalisation and environment - GPO, Powershell, Ivanti
- SMB Shares and NTFS security
- Software patching and Windows Update
- Proxy and Web Content Filtering
- Exchange Online – Management of mailboxes, resources and distribution groups
- Secure Print
- Secure Email
- Remote Access - VPN
- Remote Control
- Support of core endpoint applications
- Windows 10 and 11 Enterprise OS
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
- Microsoft Windows Firewall
- Apps for Enterprise
- Microsoft Teams including Teams Rooms
- Assistive software, e.g. Dragon, Supernova
- PDF Software, e.g. Foxit, Adobe
- Operational understanding and experience of networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, MFA
- Service Management: Use of ITSM tools e.g. Cherwell, BMC Remedy, ServiceNow
- Working to SLA’s and core ITIL framework
