Job Introduction
Part of Innovate UK Business Growth, the team at Bradford Council helps deliver bespoke business growth and scaling support for ambitious, innovative SMEs in our region.
We also operate the National Enquiry Gateway for Innovate UK Business Growth, handling all initial calls and emails from companies and directing them to the right support, whether that be from within our nationwide teams of Innovation & Growth Specialists, from the wider family of Innovate UK services or from other business support providers.
The service is delivered by the Council in partnership with five other organisations across the north of England and we work closely with a range of other agencies in the region including the Department for Business & Trade, Combined Authorities and Chambers of Commerce.
This post forms part of the National Enquiry Gateway team and you will have a varied range of duties including handling enquiries received via the national website or hotline, acting as a contact point for queries from businesses requiring market information or regulatory support, as well as helping with questions from Innovate UK Business Growth specialists or Enterprise Europe Network partners outside the UK regarding national legislation, standards or market information.
You should have:
A degree, or equivalent qualification at RQF level 6 ie BTEC advanced professional award, certificate or diploma level 6, in an appropriate discipline including business studies, international business studies, languages with business or European studies.
Or: has demonstrable experience in the delivery of business support and advice to small & medium sized enterprises.
A commitment to good customer service is vital. In addition, you should also be able to work as part of a small team, to work with complex information and relay it clearly to clients and be able to prioritise your workload.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Answering enquiries received via the national website or enquiry gateway and /or referring to other experts where appropriate;
- Acting as the specific contact point for business queries resulting from the UK’s economic and trading relationship with the EU and other countries;
- Answering questions from Network partners outside the UK regarding national legislation, standards or market information.
