Job Introduction
Bradford Museums and Galleries runs four historic venues located in different areas of Bradford district and attract 150,000 visits in addition to 18,000 school visits annually. The museum service works to ensure that everyone can experience and contribute to the Bradford district story. All our museums are in neighborhoods with diverse and changing populations and provide places for people to learn about and celebrate their heritage in welcoming spaces where people from all communities can feel safe to be themselves and have opportunities to learn, share and create. We are looking for a dynamic museum professional to lead our dedicated learning team on the delivery of our ambitious NPO and learning and enagement programme. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city during Bradford UK City of Culture 2025.
The main responsibilities of this role:
• Lead the Museum service’s Learning Team to deliver the strategic vision for Bradford Museums and Galleries Service
• Collaborate with partners in Bradford district to use its collections, stories and sites for informal and formal learning, engagement and placemaking.
• Ensure the provision of a high-quality learning, engagement, and outreach service through the efficient management of the Learning Team and active engagement with communities and groups to ensure the work of the service is relevant and informed.
We are looking for someone with a track record of managing the delivery of high-quality activities for schools and family audiences. The successful candidate will have a strong belief in the power of cultural learning, a passion for storytelling through collections and effective communication and interpretative skills. They will also have experience of working with a variety of diverse audiences, co-producing learning programmes and activities and a commitment to putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of their work.
