Job Introduction
We are looking for a legal assistant to join our experienced adult social care legal team. The role will require the candidate to be involved in providing legal and administrative support to our legal team dealing with all aspects of adult social care law and for our children’s social care law team from time to time. The role will include preparation of documents and statement and court bundles, liaising with the client, the courts and other parties and experts, sitting behind counsel, updating legal databases, assisting with the process of invoices, note and minute taking where required. Some knowledge of legal practice and procedures will be of benefit to the role as well as the ability to demonstrate an ability to work within a pressured professional environment. The work is sensitive, confidential and often complex and emotionally challenging in nature. You should be able to act under pressure in the face of competing demands arising from urgent situations and be able to interpret and communicate information effectively, use a range of complex IT packages and work to tight deadlines.
You should ideally have office and or clerical work experience in a legal or social care environment and be able to demonstrate a motivation and drive to gain a wider experience of social care legal practice. Qualifications should include GCSE in Maths and English grade C/4/5) or above or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. NVQ Level 2, Key Skills Level 2, Skills for Life Level 2, BTEC award, certificate and diploma Level 2.
