Licensing Officer

Job Introduction

The Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Service is responsible for the licensing, inspection and enforcement of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers, vehicles and operators across the Bradford District.  The key objectives of the service are to promote public safety for the public using taxi and private hire vehicles.

Role Description

We are looking for two temporary Licensing Officers to join our Regulatory and Compliance Team in HCPH Licensing. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. 

 The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Have excellent customer service skills, maintaining a polite and professional manner at all times.
  • Have the ability to communicate sometimes complex matters in a way that is easily understood, both verbally, written and by electronic means. 
  • Be able to check documents and applications against established guidelines and procedures.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Interrogate and maintain a range of information systems and databases, completing enquiries as appropriate and in line with service user guidelines and procedures. 
  • Be competent in a wide range of IT packages relating to the area of work, including management information. 
  • Interpret licensing legislation and policy in a fair and proportionate manner.
