Job Introduction

We are a team consisting of Road Sweeper, Mechanical Sweeper, Driver Co-Ordinators, Street Cleansing Operatives and Street Cleansing Ambassadors.

Our teams are integral to ensuring the Shipley Constituency of Bradford is kept clean on a daily basis.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our dedicated street cleansing service to drive and operate a Mechanical Sweeper, sweeping pavements and precincts to clean road channels, road surfaces and other hard surface areas.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. 

 The main responsibilities of this role:

  • To drive and operate a Mechanical Sweeper, Sweeping pavements and precincts to clean road channels, road surfaces and other hard surface areas.
  • Ensuring all PPE is worn and all waste collection and Health & Safety procedures are followed.
  • To undertake relevant training and development activities and to assist with training of new colleagues and highlight any areas of concern.
  •  To ensure safety of other road-users and the public are a key priority whilst operating the vehicle and while sweeping. Must be fully aware of surroundings including parked vehicles/moving vehicles, access restrictions and pedestrians at all times.
  •  Be fully aware of vehicle maintenance requirements, operator requirements and undertake and record daily vehicle checks and ad-hoc basic maintenance of vehicle including refuelling, cleaning, oils, water and grease points etc.
  • To cover colleagues on other service areas as required, this may include use of different vehicles and equipment within licence parameters.
