Team information:
We have an exciting opportunity as we develop our focus on ensuring Bradford Citizens, who are in receipt of formal care support in their own homes, receive great care with a focus on optimal handling. We are seeking two Occupational Therapists with experience in optimal handling. You would be supported by a team manager and senior practitioner as well as our existing experienced occupational therapists and Moving and Handling specialists.
The aim of these roles is to undertake reviews of formal care provision across our district, particularly our Bradford Citizens who have high-level care needs, as well as reviews following provision of equipment, minor or major adaptations. These reviews will ensure individuals are receiving optimal handled formal care provision to maximise their independence and remain safely at home. This team will work in close partnership and collaboration with our social work colleagues and care providers; to assess individual’s moving and handling needs and identify appropriate risk reduction approaches and optimal level of care provision, through specialist moving and handling guidance, environmental changes and equipment provision. This will be a fast-paced role, candidates will need to be flexible, have excellent communication skills, be confident in undertaking challenging conversations, have a positive approach to risk management and problem solving and a passion for this clinical area.
The successful candidate must possess the following skills:
- Have extensive experience within moving and handling, preferably within a community setting.
- Have HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Have a knowledge and practical understanding of relevant legislation including the Care Act and Moving and Handling legislation.
- Be open to new ideas, flexible and be able to encourage others to adapt to and embrace change.
