Job Introduction
Waste Services are looking to recruit a Project Manager – Recycling, managing a variety of different projects in relation to the Simpler Recycling reform on behalf of the Council. This will include implementation of changes to service delivery, to comply with: Food Waste collections, Extended Producer Responsibility education capital projects, and other departmental projects.
Main responsibilities of role:
- To Project Manage the implementation of food waste collections for the district and deliver the project to agreed timescales.
- To manage key inputs from other Council departments and partner organisations and ensure these are delivered to achieve the timely completion of the project.
- To obtain the right inputs at the right time including business justification to request appropriate experts and other resources as required.
- Creation of deliverable project plans and communication plans.
- Actively manage delivery of any assigned projects in line with the Simpler Recycling legislation, with planned project reviews and with full consideration of political and internal priorities and constraints and take responsibility for individual projects.
- To plan, monitor and control assigned projects from start up to completion using recognised Project Management methods and tools.
- To be aware and ensure compliance for Health and Safety aspects for the projects.
- Creation and management of all aspects of project documentation to a well-defined configuration management system (manual or automated).
- Assist with the creation and management of contracts/agreements where required (including procurement, legal, quality assurance, service level and work package agreements).
- Assist in the development of project specifications where required.
- To manage projects in full compliance with Council Financial Regulations and Standing Orders.
- To prepare and presentation of reports, in a pre-agreed format, for a range of audiences.
- To investigate, share and transfer best practice to improve capacity within the Council and ensure all possible lessons learned and knowledge transfer opportunities are exploited.
- To monitor and update and legislation and delivery expectations.
- To arrange, coordinate and chair project meetings in person and via video.
Applicants must have:
- Experience in a project management role
- Experience of working within the Waste Management Industry and knowledge of Simpler Recycling.
- Must have a driving license and access to a vehicle for business use and be prepared to travel to sites around the district
The role will be:
- Based at Harris Street Depot, Bradford but may be required to travel to depots around the district as required.
- Monday to Friday 37 hours with flexible working between 7am and 5pm.
- Hybrid working possible but must be office-based on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as a minimum.
- Contract length: temporary to 31/10/2027
