Job Introduction
Do you have a real passion for the hospitality industry, but you’re tired of the late nights and 60-hour weeks?
If so, this is the ideal role for you!
Bradford Theatres has a vacancy opportunity for a Restaurant and Catering Manager to work alongside four other Food and Beverage Managers (all reporting to our Senior Food and Beverage Manager). The primary purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day operation of our flagship restaurant – Restaurant 1914 – based in the Alhambra Theatre. During dark periods in the Alhambra you will also assist in the management of the Food and Beverage Operations at the other Bradford Theatres venues: St Georges Concert Hall is one of the best acoustic concert venues in the UK and operates as a Café throughout the day; The Studio Venue is a 250 capacity versatile multi-functional space, and Kings Hall & Winter Garden in Ilkley; a 500 seat theatre, wedding and functions/events venue (250 dining capacity).
We are looking for a candidate that has a proven track record in similar hospitality/catering settings or a multi-venue/multi-outlet hospitality environment. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering the highest levels of customer service to a loyal clientele. They will also have experience of managing large teams of casual and contracted staff, mentoring and training these staff, and ensuring that the standards of service delivered by the team exceeds expectation at all times. In addition to this an understanding of current Health and Safety legislation relating to the provision of food and beverage is essential. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of this legislation, and have previous experience in managing licensed premises and dealing successfully with the opportunities and challenges this brings.
What makes this role different? Well, it is a 37-hours-per-week contract and the latest you will generally finish your shift is around 20:30-21:00 rather than the early hours of the morning! We thoroughly believe in a good work / life balance and this role allows for exactly that compared to the majority of similar positions out there.
We will expect the Restaurant and Catering Manager to assist the Senior Food and Beverage Manager in achieving income targets, GPs and staffing targets. They will also have a wealth of hands-on experience and a working knowledge of stock control methods. The successful candidate will be capable of identifying and resolving poor performance issues with staff and service delivery and see through developed strategies and plans to deal robustly with management concerns.
