SEND Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Band 6 scale points 6-11 FTE £23,893 - 25,979pa  pro rata (Hourly rates £12.38- £13.47)

Bradford Council is expanding its provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are established Specialist Resourced Provisions who support children with Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across primary and secondary schools in the Bradford District. 

 We are seeking experienced SEND Learning Support Assistants to support these children in newly established provisions. Staff will be centrally employed by Bradford Children’s Services and deployed across various mainstream schools. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with ASD and SEMH needs in resourced provisions
  • Assist with learning and development across primary or secondary age ranges.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Help students build skills to achieve their full potential.

 What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in supporting students with ASD or SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • A passion for making a real difference to the lives of children with SEND.
  • Fluency in English: As required by the Code of Practice, you must provide examples of your fluency in your application.
  • Ability to work well within a team and contribute to an inclusive school culture.
  • Awareness of Principles of Keeping Children Safe in education
