Job Introduction
We are seeking a highly motivated, resilient and committed individual to undertake the role of Senior Electoral Services Officer.
The service has a high national profile, operating in a highly legislative field and is one of the largest electoral areas in the country, working alongside partners in the Electoral Commission.
You will play a key role in supporting the Deputy Electoral Services Manager in meeting the challenges facing the service, to deliver all aspects of the electoral process, including registration, local and national elections and referenda, in a demanding electoral environment. The post holder will be responsible for a team, working on all aspects of the electoral process and effectively managing enquiries from citizens and Elected Members, to a high standard of service.
Experience of Individual Electoral Registration and the administration of elections and referenda are essential to this post. Knowledge and experience of the eXpress software system would also be an advantage. You will be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills within a regulatory framework, taking a key role in increasing operational performance and developing and delivering practical interventions to maintain service delivery, in line with statutory requirements. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and work with a high degree of accuracy.
The successful applicant will need to work flexibly, with a ‘can do’ positive attitude and accepting personal responsibility for their work and that of their team to deliver successful outcomes at an operational level. On the approach to and during elections and busy periods it is a requirement to work extended hours, often at short notice, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
