SkillsHouse Engagement Lead Adviser

Job Introduction

SkillsHouse Engagement Lead Adviser X 2

Hours of work 12pm-8pm – Office / Hybrid. Some weekend cover will be required.

As a SkillsHouse Engagement Lead Adviser, your mission will be to reach out and inspire vulnerable young people aged 16–19 and adults to take their next step and to support them in training, work, or further education.

You will have a caseload of 50 - 80 active clients at any one time. You will work in partnership with other teams within SkillsHouse and link in with the Care Leavers service and Further Education providers, ensuring NEET young people are able to access appropriate and timely training.

You'll be out in the community building relationships, spotting opportunities, and connecting with schools, colleges, youth services, charities, and other organisations to engage and support new learners outside of the traditional referral channels.

This is a perfect role for someone with a youth work, support, or community background who is confident, proactive, and passionate about giving young people and adults the best start in life.

You will also be managing a small team of Engagement Advisers who will be working evenings and alternate Saturdays.

Due to the nature of support this client group requires, this role will require you to work unsociable hours. You will need access to a car and to be comfortable with lone working.

What We’re Looking For:

•    A confident communicator with a natural ability to connect with vulnerable young people and adults

•    Experience of managing teams and driving performance to ensure meaningful intervention takes place with timely referrals

•    Experience of working in youth support, education, community outreach, or a similar role

•    Strong relationship-building and networking skills

•    Organised and self-motivated with the ability to manage a varied workload

•    Comfortable presenting and promoting to diverse audiences

•    IT literate with strong digital communication skills

•    Knowledge of safeguarding and a commitment to learner welfare

•    A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential.

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
