Staying Put - Male IDVA

Job Introduction

Male IDVA

Staying Put is well known for the great care we take with clients and employees alike. We are experts in the domestic abuse field and we continue to develop exciting, new services that are breaking the mould of traditional service provision in this sector.

We are recruiting a Male Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to support boys, young men and adult male survivors affected by domestic abuse across community and youth settings. This post forms part of a 12-month pilot, designed to strengthen inclusive, trauma-informed support for men and boys across the Bradford district.

About the role

The role of Male IDVA is to support boys, young men and adult male survivors affected by domestic abuse across community and youth settings. This is part of an exciting 12-month pilot, designed to strengthen inclusive, trauma-informed support for boys and men across the Bradford district.

Working within our Community Service Team, this role will work in partnership with the Youth Service to support boys aged 11-17 identified through agreed pathways, including MARAC and the Prevention Partnership Panel (PPP)

The role involves working directly with male adult survivors, children and young people to safeguard wellbeing, co-ordinate holistic packages of support and ensure that the voice of individuals are central to safety planning, decision-making and multi-agency responses.

As well as direct advocacy and safeguarding, the role will also contribute to EIP interventions, including preventative support, outreach and community-based activities.

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. £27,554 – £28,735 per annum, depending on qualifications.

Please note: there may be some working outside of normal working hours.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people and/or adults affected by trauma, domestic abuse or related harm. We are looking for someone who can build trust with boys and young men in a safe, respectful and age-appropriate way and work confidently with partner agencies.

Our ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries, and be empathic and non-judgemental in their approach. As well as bringing a strengths-based, inclusive approach, we need someone who can respond to crisis situations within a fast-paced service and make effective and safe decisions.

We are looking for candidates who are able to work with initiative, have a high level of self motivation with a “can-do” attitude but who can recognise, work with and develop the strengths within a team.

We welcome applications from male IDVA’s for this role.
