Visitor Assistant

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Visitor Assistant to join our dedicated team within Bradford District Museums & Galleries. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. 
This vitally important post delivers the front of house experience across four museum sites and you will be the first point of contact for our visitors.


The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set in order to meet the requirements of the job. These include excellent customer service, reception and shop duties, security, key-holding, CCTV monitoring, cleaning and maintenance, building custodianship and fire marshalling. 


The role includes heavy lifting & ladder work.Health and Safety knowledge is required for the post and an IOSH Working Safely qualification would be an advantage.


The main responsibilities of this role:


  • Meeting & Greeting Visitors / Reception duties
  • Building Maintenance
  • Keyholding / CCTV / Security / Emergency Response
  • Assisting with exhibition installation and deinstallation
  • Porterage and Warding / Invigilation
  • Event set up and take down
  • Covering out of hours events and Bank Holidays
  • Assisting other teams within the Service
  • Working across all 4 sites within the Bradford District
