We are looking for a skilled and motivated Workshop Team Leader to join our experienced and close-knit workshop team at Shearbridge Depot.

 

Bradford council operates one of West Yorkshire’s largest and most diverse local authority fleet operations, maintaining circa 1,700 vehicles, which is increasing, including specialist plant equipment that deliver essential frontline services across the district every day. 

 

From refuse collection vehicles and winter maintenance machinery to operational support vehicles and specialist plant machinery. Our fleet workshop plays a vital role in keeping the city running safely efficiently and reliably.

 

We’re looking for someone who - 

 

  • Is apprentice trained to City & Guilds 380/383 Level 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised standard.
  • Has ILM Level 3 in Management or is willing to work towards
  • Holds an IOSH qualification or is willing to work towards
  • Has experience in a supervisory/deputising role
  • Is a class 4,5 & 7 MOT tester or is willing to work towards
  • Holds an LGV Class C or C+E Licence – or is willing to work towards obtaining one.
  • Has strong technical and diagnostic skills.
  • Can work safely, efficiently and professionally under pressure.
  • Works well as part of a team and supports colleagues.
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Is reliable, adaptable and motivated.

The Role – 

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising staff and contractors both within the workshop and remotely, undertaking inspections, servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and complex repairs to a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to high professional standards by members of staff.

This is a practical role within a busy operational workshop environment. The position will involve physical duties including lifting, bending, kneeling & carrying along with occasional roadside and site repairs throughout the Bradford district in all weather conditions. The role requires a proactive approach with the ability to respond to changing priorities, and service demands in a busy operational workshop.
