Job Introduction
The Department of Place would like to recruit an Apprentice HGV & Motor Vehicle/Plant Mechanic who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible. The main purpose of the role is to undertake an Apprenticeship Scheme of up to four years duration within the Department of Place, Fleet Workshop at Shearbridge depot as an apprentice HGV motor vehicle and plant mechanic.
The aim of the apprenticeship is for the apprentice to gain the necessary skills, competencies and qualifications required of a fully qualified HGV motor vehicle and plant mechanic and undertake an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician L3.
The apprentice will follow a programme of training in all aspects of maintenance and repair, to a range of vehicles, machines and plant equipment and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role, to the required quality standards by the end of the training programme. Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship.
To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C, 4 - 9 or a minimum of Level 1 or above in Maths and English. (An assessment will take place before the interview stage)
The apprentice must pass the UK driving test and obtain a standard UK driving licence by the end of the apprenticeship – self funded.
To meet the apprenticeship funding requirements, you must be entitled to work in the UK and have been a resident for 3 years.As this is an Intermediate Apprenticeship opportunity successful applicants at the selection stage will be assessed first on numeracy/literacy skills. Only successful applicants from the assessment centre process will be interviewed.
Please note that if a candidate possesses a qualification at the same level or at a higher level in the same specific subject area as the advertised apprenticeship the candidate would not be eligible for apprenticeship funding and therefore must not apply. If unsure, please enquire.
