Join our dynamic West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund (WY+TF) Team, originally established to oversee the development and delivery of over £150 million in transport infrastructure projects. After successfully completing several major projects, we are now managing additional funding programmes, bringing our total to over £300 million. 

Our team is diverse and multifaceted, with a core focus on Highway Engineering. We pride ourselves on designing schemes in-house and working closely with external consultants and contractors.

We are looking for an Assistant Engineer / Engineer to join our dedicated team in the Department of Place within Highways Services. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

As an Assistant Engineer / Engineer, you will be instrumental in transforming our district through over £300 million in transportation and highway projects. Your role will involve assisting with feasibility studies, designing and developing highway schemes, supervising construction, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with stakeholders, including members of the public.

The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Feasibility and Concept Studies: Assist in conducting feasibility studies, public engagement, and consultation to support the development of various highway and civil engineering projects.

  • Design and Development: Participate in the detailed design of traffic management, casualty reduction, street lighting, and highway improvement schemes, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

  • Project Management: Support the procurement, award, and administration of contracts, and supervise construction to ensure projects meet safety and quality standards.

  • Technical Expertise: Provide specialist knowledge in areas such as urban traffic control, highway design, and civil engineering, offering solutions to complex engineering problems.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present reports, establish effective communication with stakeholders, and attend public meetings to keep all parties informed of project progress.
