Job Introduction
The BSL Interpreting Team works alongside our dedicated Sensory Services team at Morley Street Resource Centre, just outside Bradford City Centre. We are a small and supportive team of three part‑time BSL Interpreters and one Lead Coordinator. Together, we provide high‑quality language and interpreting support for the Bradford Deaf Community, using both in‑house staff and an extensive pool of freelance BSL interpreters.
We are now looking for a BSL Interpreting Services Coordinator to join our team. This key role supports the day‑to‑day management of interpreter bookings, financial accounts, and communication with organisations, professionals, and Deaf residents.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for Deaf people in our district and who either has, or is willing to work towards, British Sign Language Level 2.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference within our diverse and vibrant city.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain and coordinate the Sign Language Interpreting Service admin and diary systems for Bradford Council Sensory Services (including all sensory‑related language service professionals).
- Communicate, liaise, and respond to Deaf/BSL users, hearing service users, Language Service Professionals, and partner organisations.
- Manage and maintain financial records and accounts for a busy BSL interpreting service.
- Prepare and provide routine statistical, financial, and booking reports.
If you’re interested in joining our team and would like more information, please contact Sarah Poole (preferably via email): sarah.poole@bradford.gov.uk or phone 07966 779 899.
