Our SCIL Team vision is …to offer a flexible and responsive service, supporting schools, private, voluntary and independent (PVI) (birth-5 years) settings and parent/carers to better understand and meet the needs of children and young people across Bradford to improve outcomes and life chances.

Resourcing i.e. equipping schools/settings/families to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND

 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the SCIL Team as the Learning Support Team Lead. We are looking to appoint an experienced leader who also has specialist cognition and learning skills, knowledge and qualifications. They must be passionate about making a difference to the learning opportunities and well-being of children and young people with cognition and learning differences across the Bradford District.  

 

You will work alongside key staff in schools to support them to develop their inclusive mainstream provision including identifying need to and effectively support children and young people with cognition and learning differences through high quality teaching, reasonable adjustments and additional provision. As well as leading a team of Specialist Teachers and being an integral part of the SCIL senior leadership team. 

 

Experience of meeting the needs of children and young people with cognition and learning difference and the ability to enhance teaching practice in mainstream settings is essential. Along with proven leadership experience. 

 

Salary: Leadership Scale 5-9  

Contract: Full Time, Permanent; School Teachers Pay and Conditions 

Based at Floor 3, Britannia House, Prince’s Way, Bradford, BD1 1NN 

Start Date: 13th April 2026 (or before if possible)

Bradford Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS and children’s barred list check will be undertaken for these posts and all mandatory pre employment checks will be carried out. 

 

Responsibilities of the post include ensuring that the safety and welfare of children and young people is paramount by implementing the relevant safeguarding practice and policies and liaising with other council colleagues including the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) where appropriate. The post includes engaging in regulated activity with children and young people. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
