Job Introduction
Bradford Council Public Health team are seeking to recruit a skilled and ambitious community engagement worker who will lead on our school resources project.
The School Resources role will play a pivotal part in improving equity for children and families across the Bradford district. You’ll champion a whole-systems approach to tackling health inequalities and improving health by ensuring that second-hand school resources are distributed to communities where they’re needed most. Working closely with Public Health, Education and Neighbourhood teams, you’ll become the key link between community organisations, schools and family support services.
On an operational level, you’ll map the current landscape of second-hand school resources, identify priority areas for redistribution, and establish new distribution sites, pop-up shops or digital exchange networks. You’ll help mobilise volunteers, set up school swap shops, facilitate community events and build a multi-agency network. Using qualitative and quantitative data, you’ll monitor reach, effectiveness and long-term outcomes, such as school readiness and continually look to refine the delivery across the district for greater impact.
We’re looking for someone with demonstrable community-development experience, whether in schools, faith settings or community organisations, who understands local government, education structures and the social determinants of health.
You’ll be skilled in project coordination, partnership building and data-driven evaluation, with a track record of engaging diverse communities and speaking confidently to the public. Above all, you’re driven to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for Bradford’s children and young people.
The post will be matrix managed between public health and Children Services, and will be on a two year fixed term contract, with any extension subject to funding.
