Job Introduction

With a population of over 500,000 Bradford has been identified as a key growth location within the Leeds City Region. Bradford Council processes around 3500 planning applications each year and with 59 conservation areas and over 20,000 listed buildings there is a wealth of heritage schemes. Bradford is also home to the renowned World Heritage Site “Saltaire”.

The varied workload involves validating householder applications, retail, housing and employment proposals and other commercial development evolving from numerous investment initiatives.

You will be a member of a busy team validating planning applications.  This involves checking that applications are complete and include all required documentation, such as plans, reports, fees and supporting information along with providing a range of generic and service specific tasks for the different teams within the Planning Service.

You will possess excellent communication skills and a strong ability to assess information, analyse problems and find solutions. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines balanced with customer service experience and a great team working ethic will be required along with your commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery. The role offers variety in a fast paced and rewarding technical administrative environment.

You will play an active role to ensure that the Bradford Council’s Planning Service makes a maximum contribution to the regeneration of Bradford and the achievement of a sustainable District.
