Job Introduction
Do you have the skills to motivate citizens within their localities to make positive contributions through developing engagement and involvement opportunities to encourage active and responsible citizenship and strengthen community relations? Can you bring together residents, businesses and public sector and other organisations, working alongside councillors, to problem solve to develop innovative projects to tackle entrenched issues in neighbourhoods and across constituencies, to produce positive outcomes that improve residents’ quality of life?
You will be responsible for developing and implementing Ward Plans, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, coordinating the work of Council and partner services within localities at a ward- and neighbourhood-level. The successful candidate will support the deployment of staff and other resources, providing specialist support and guidance to front line workers as required.
We are looking to recruit someone who is able to:
- Motivate people to take action
- Understand community engagement principles
- Lead projects that result in positive outcomes
- Lead effective multi-agency and partnership working that creates extra value in service delivery
- Co-ordinate and facilitate public engagement and consultation in communities.
- Provide support and guidance to Elected Members in their community leadership role
- Manage often complex, high risk, high profile programmes of work applying innovative problem solving approaches to long standing issues.
- Organise and run large public consultation events, managing public and partner expectations
- Understand and follow management processes, managing and deploying staff teams
- Possesses experience of close collaborative working with a variety of partners from public, private and VCS sectors, including elected members
- You will also be required to undertake and present formal management investigations and will therefore need knowledge of performance, sickness and disciplinary processes within a complex organisation.
You should have experience of community engagement, including with groups that are often overlooked, of managing complex projects and of management processes with a degree level or equivalent qualification and/or demonstrable experience in the absence of qualification requirement.
