Waste Disposal Labourer/Operative

Job Introduction

Waste & Fleet Services are looking to recruit a waste disposal labourer/operative to join our team working at our Household Waste Recycling Centres within the district. The post has a career grade criteria which must be achieved to progress to waste disposal operative. The role involves working weekends, 6.5 hours Saturday and 5.5 hours Sunday paid at the appropriate enhanced rates. 

The prime objective of the post  is to be responsible both individually and as a team, for the safe operation of a waste disposal location, including associated plant and machinery at transfer stations and or household waste recycling centres. To ensure that the public can deposit their waste , receive help and advice in recycling their waste so as to help Bradford Council MDC to meet government/operational recycling targets.

 You will need to have.

  • Experience of manual work, handling of weights, lifting and walk long distances.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to complete associated paperwork.
  • A driving license would be desirable but is not essential.
  •  A CITB certificate would be desirable but not essential as training is given.
