Job Introduction
Bradford Theatres (Alhambra / Studio / St George’s Hall) has an exciting vacancy opportunity for an assistant manager based at The Kings Hall – Winter Garden in Ilkley; a 500 seated theatre, wedding, functions and events venue (250 dining capacity) having two side by side halls giving a multi functional community and commercial space.
We are looking for a candidate that has a proven track record in a similar entertainment setting or a hospitality environment, who has excellent people & management experience including mentoring and training staff and taking a shared lead & responsibility for maximising profit and income within a catering / events / theatre environment.
We expect the post holder to work with the Kings Hall Manager, as well as the city centre based operations manager & city centre based senior food & beverage manager to assist in achieving ambitious income targets and assist with hitting GP’s monthly.
He/she also has at least 24 months hands on experience of event / function planning and delivery with a working knowledge of wet & dry stock controls and will be capable of identifying gaps in market trends to generate commercial activities to maximise income whilst making operational savings (efficiencies and effectiveness) at no detriment to service delivery.
They will have a shared responsibility with the Kings Hall manager leading and motivating the food and beverage team, striving to improve the department’s financial performance through all revenue and income streams. Ideally has a working knowledge and experience of theatre (of a recognised medium to large entertainment facility) including the Front of House operation, the recruitment and selection of both front of house staff and bars/catering staff.
Has the ability to produce and develop staff training packages working along the side the Councils appraisal scheme. We are looking for a highly self-motivated and enthustic individual that has the ability to work for the majority of time unsupervised. We expect the successful candidate to be able multi-task and prioritise their own work load (which will be varied on a daily basis) given the diversity of use of the facility. The candidate must understand and work with the needs of the community to maintain the fine balance of use, between community and commercial operation.
On occasion due to business needs the assistant manager will support the events, functions and theatrical needs at the city centre venues, however the Kings Hall will be the nominated base of operation. Candidate needs to be IT proficient with office applications and has working experience of other work based programmes (wages, SAP, procurement, recruitment & selection)
