Condition Building Surveyor

Job Introduction

The Condition management team forms part of the larger Asset & Facilities Management team working within Built Environment at the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.  The primary focus of the Condition Surveying management team is to ensure the authority maintains compliance in all our portfolio with relevant health and safety legislation and accurately monitor and manage identified works within our corporate portfolio of properties.  

We are looking for a Condition surveyor to join our dedicated team in Asset & Facilities Management, Corporate Resources. The role will have responsibility to provide the condition information across our varied portfolio of corporate buildings.  Candidates must be organised, have an eye for detail, enthusiastic, possess strong written and verbal communicator skills with a minimum experience of three years within the Construction industry. The ability to work well independently but have a strong team player attitude is essential for this role. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. 

Our management team is seeking candidates with a proven track record within the field of Surveying and or project management. Candidates must be enthusiastic, good communicators and experienced in undertaking building condition surveys across a variety of assets.

The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Carry out a variety of Condition surveys including schedule of rate surveys, dilapidations surveys, building surveys and general condition surveys, including full report writing.
  • To carry out urgent surveys and take appropriate action when required.
  • Be able to assess all elements of any building construction type, record urgent repairs and maintenance.
  • Produce and prepare accurate survey reports for all survey types. 
  • To produce building floor plans to ensure we have the correct layouts for the fire brigade.
  • Prepare estimates for each element of works valued from £100.00 to £1,000,000.00
  • Carry out surveys for potential 3rd party clients
  • Keep up to date with new technologies, new construction methods and pricing methods. 
  • Raise orders to our helpdesk for small urgent repairs.
