Job Introduction
We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Employment Adviser or Principal Careers Officer to join SkillsHouse, Bradford Council’s all-age careers and employability service.
SkillsHouse looks to address the skill gaps in the local labour market as well as to improve underlying employment and economic outcomes for Bradford residents. Providing high quality advice, information and guidance is a vital part of this.
Applicants qualified in Information, Advice and Guidance are welcome but applications from those without those qualifications will also be considered, as reflected in the pay scale.
SkillsHouse is responsible for building our local partnership offer to employers and jobseekers alike.
The key purposes of the post are:
- To offer a person–centred service to enable customers to access and sustain suitable employment.
- To develop and deliver intensive one-to-one and group job search training and support, tailored to meet customer needs.
- To work proactively with employers and other agencies to support this process.
Applicants are required to demonstrate that they can:
- Manage their workload and carry out a number of specific tasks accurately and to a high standard.
- Exchange information, build rapport, provide advice, guidance and counselling, handle private, confidential and sensitive information.
- Take initiative, and work independently within the scope of the job
- Ensure their own work meets quality assurance expectations.
- Treat people fairly and with dignity and respect, maintain impartiality and be aware of the barriers people face.
The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
