Environmental Health Officer/Trainee Environmental Health Officer

Job Introduction

We are seeking 2 x full time Environmental Health/ Trainee Environmental Health Officers. One position based in the Food Safety Team and one based in the Pollution Team. 

The post of Environmental Health Officer/Trainee Environmental Health Officer is generic, and you may be required to undertake Environmental Health duties as part of the Food Safety, Environmental Protection and Health and Safety teams.

Bradford MDC is a vibrant and culturally diverse district. You will be required to proactively engage with businesses and stakeholders to enable the Environmental Health Department to develop and deliver a high quality, cost effective and efficient service aimed at securing compliance with legislation, guidance, and best practice in line with Council policies and procedures.  You will be expected to provide advice on technical, legislative and enforcement matters relating to Environmental Health.

You will be enthusiastic, committed, self-motivated and have a ‘can-do’ attitude, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will also be required to work some unsociable hours as the job demands, however, with the flexitime system the Council operates, this will suit a wide range of people with their work-life balance.

The post of EHO requires a relevant degree/diploma in Environmental Health from a provider recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and to be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHRB) or hold Chartered status/Registration with the CIEH. 

To be eligible for the trainee post you must have a recognised degree/MSc in Environmental Health or nearing the completion of the degree. We will offer the right person an opportunity to complete a structured programme of practical training to obtain registration with the CIEH.
