Job Introduction
This is a great opportunity to play a key role in helping the Business Rates and Council Tax teams in their work.
We are looking to recruit a motivated individual who is able to carry out inspections across the Bradford Metropolitan District. This is a permanent post which will be focused on determining whether the Council tax or non-domestic rating lists need to be amended and providing information to colleagues to enable decisions to be made to assist in maximising the Councils income. Information will be obtained by conducting visits in person, through telephone calls or utilising other sources of information such as the internet (eg: Google maps, social media sites).
Ideally the successful candidate will have previously worked in a revenues or valuation environment but it is not essential as training will be given. You must have good time management skills and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently (since you will be expected to manage your own workload) and have an eye for detail. You will need to have a road worthy car available for inspections and attending the office, a clean driving license and insurance for business use.
As part of the role you'll benefit from being able to utilise our Flexitime Scheme and the opportunity to take advantage of hybrid working.
The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English. The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
