Apprentice Investment Administration Officer

Job Introduction

The WYPF Investment Operations Team is responsible for the day to day administration of the pension funds Investment securitised and cash assets in support of the Investment Managers. This work requires all members of team to work together to process all daily transactional information using specific Financial Services IT systems, the Microsoft Office suite of products such as Word and Excel as well as to work with our outsourced service providers. This role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to move around all areas of the Operations function to gain knowledge of all areas of Investment support within the Financial Services industry

All team members must follow the defined policies and procedures and are expected to constantly review and adapt their working processes to implement improvements to increase productivity and efficiency. The team work in a developing and fast changing environment of which the successful applicant will be a key support and they will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills of business change and transformation.

The qualification to be undertaken for this apprenticeship is a professional, level 4 qualification that is widely acknowledged as appropriate by Financial Services institutions in the UK and various countries around the globe.

Role Description

 e.g. We are looking for an apprentice to join our dedicated team delivering Investment Operations services and administration to the West Yorkshire Pension Fund.  

 The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, :-

  • .Ensuring that transaction settlement and custody is managed effectively to protect our Invested assets
  • .Monitor, input and manage the cash element of our Investment portfolio to ensure payments can and are made in a timely manner to meet our internal and external obligations.
  • .To understand and administer all Corporate Event activity of the investment portfolio. To ensure that our asset and cash holdings are managed in line with the receipt of completed asset distribution instructions within the timetable for each event.
  •  The daily reconciliation of all transaction activity across the global investment portfolio to ensure the timely identification or errors and process failures and active correction of such errors in accordance with regulatory standards.
  •  To provide client reporting and data reviews as required to support all relevant stakeholders both within and outside of the organisation. To meet the publication requirements defined within both SLA and regulatory requirements with 100% accuracy.
  • To work with all internal and external business stakeholder as required in support of the daily BAU and any change or transformational requirements.
