Job Introduction
The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Waste, Fleet & Environmental Health are looking to recruit a Principal Officer who will be responsible for the effective development, strategic leadership, management and provision of the whole of Environmental Health Services across the Bradford Metropolitan District.
This will include management and responsibility for:
Food hygiene and food safety inspection and control
Health and safety at work inspection and investigation
Planning applications and license consultations, including government agency consultations
Investigation and control of communicable diseases.
Animal health and welfare inspection and investigation
Gypsy liaison service
Private drainage systems and public and private water supplies
Domestic, commercial and industrial noise and prevention of public health nuisances
Local air pollution control/integrated pollution and prevention control
Contaminated land
Environmental waste enforcement
Dog warden service
Out of hours emergency call out service
Up to 70 staff
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Health or a Diploma in Environmental Health that is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) AND
A Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) OR
Registration as a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) OR
Registration as a Registered Environmental Health Practitioner by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
The successful applicant will prepare and present appropriate reports to senior management and elected Members including the production of Executive and Committee reports and attendance at Executive and Committees as required. They will also attend Government Committees, Public Enquiries and Employment Tribunals on behalf of the Council and attend Magistrates Courts, Crown Courts, Coroners Courts and Tribunals as a professional witness and to give professional advice to Government Departments, Local Government and other Professional Associations on issues relevant to environmental protection at regional and national level.
The postholder has delegated responsibility for all Environmental Health functions district wide and will operate extensively on his/her own initiative.
