Senior Transport Planner

Job Introduction

Bradford is an incredibly exciting place to work right now!  We are:

  • Developing a Mass Transit line to Leeds
  • Working on a new through railway station in the Southern Gateway to drive regeneration
  • Removing city centre traffic to create new public spaces and hugely improved walking and cycling facilities
  • Building our third Cycle Superhighway
  • Developing a programme of Sustainable Transport Corridors
  • Working on countless other sustainable transport projects, studies and strategies
We are looking for a hard-working, passionate Senior Transport Planner to help us push forward with these projects.  You will:
  • Work strategically across West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region to provide technical expertise, support, advice and guidance to enable to Council to deliver its responsibilities across a range of transport planning functions.
  • Carry out investigations, feasibility studies, prepare concept designs, transportation studies, transport assessments and modelling, sustainable and integrated transport studies of alternative solutions to transport related issues to support a wide range of strategic planning and fund bidding documents. 
  • Co-ordinate and contribute to the development and delivery of strategies (e.g. the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan) and Infrastructure Plans.
  • Quality assure schemes in development and input to future funding bids. 


You will need experience in a senior capacity in a large engineering or transport planning organisation. 
Educated to degree level plus recognised qualification in Civil engineering or Transport Planning and/or eligible for election to corporate membership of Royal Town Planning Institute, Royal Institute of British Architects of other relevant organisation
This is a Career Graded post. Accelerated entry onto Career Grade with higher level qualifications.
