Job Introduction
The Library Development Team ensures that Bradford's libraries are responsive to community needs and aligned with national and local priorities. In the context of the Libraries Connected Universal Offers, the team’s responsibilities span various areas, including: the reading offer, the health and well being offer, the digital and information offer and the culture and creativity offer. The team works together to oversee all that libraries offer from book buying to events, activities and partnership working.
Bradford Library Service is looking to recruit maternity cover for a Children and Young People’s Libraries Development Officer who will be actively involved in planning, managing and developing a service that reflects the needs of children and young people in the local community. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making sure children and young people have access to a wide range of materials and services that encourage children to read for pleasure, improve literacy and communication as well as provide access to exciting cultural, creative and learning opportunities in our libraries and wider community.
The main responsibilities of this role:.
- Service Development and Evaluation
Assess, evaluate, and recommend improvements for services to young people, including monitoring and measuring impact. - Partnership and Community Engagement
Work with internal and external partners, including community groups, educational institutions, and national bodies, to develop relevant and inclusive services. - Resource Management and Customer Service
Manage collections and resolve related issues, ensuring high customer care standards. Make informed decisions on information resources and material selection within budget limits. - Marketing and Promotion
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to effectively promote services for young people, linking to national and local initiatives such as the Summer Reading Challenge.
