Job Introduction
Bradford Local Studies and Archives teams collect, preserve and promote the documented history and heritage of the Bradford district enabling access to these extensive resources for a wide variety of customers and researchers.
Bradford Library Service is looking to recruit a Peripatetic Local Studies & Archive Assistant to join our teams at both Bradford and Keighley Local Studies Libraries. The post holder will be contracted for 15 hours per week and will have a base library but will be expected to work at both Bradford & Keighley Local Studies libraries when required, providing essential support and cover for other team members as well as for events and activities. Therefore, rotas may change from week to week.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Working within the team on front line services including providing a customer-focused enquiry and research service, supporting visitors and answering enquiries by phone and email.
- Assisting with the maintenance of stock and other collection management tasks such as indexing and cataloguing.
- Assisting with events and activities and in engaging people with their heritage and local area.
