Job Introduction

Bradford District Museums and Galleries (BDMG) runs four museums, all  located in neighbourhoods with diverse and changing populations and annually attracting over 160,000 visits per year in addition to 18,000 school visits. Our museums are welcoming spaces where people from all communities have opportunities to learn, share and create. BDMG cares for the district’s collections that have developed over 150 years to tell Bradford’s unique story, from its earliest beginnings to today’s dynamic and multicultural city. We work extensively with national, regional, and local partners. Current national partnerships include The British Museum, The British Library and Tate; Local relationships such as those with schools, charities and community organisations are central to our core programming and service delivery. We are closely integrated with the Cultural Place Partnership that has driven Bradford’s successful bid to be UK City of Culture in 2025. Our museums’ location and integration within their communities is central to the 2025 programming and outreach work.


We are looking for a Museum Project Officer to join our dedicated team in the Department of Place for Bradford Museums & Galleries' Arts Council England National Portfolio programme.  You will support the Museums & Galleries Manager in the delivery of the 2025-26 NPO Activity plan and Investment Principles plan for Bradford Museums & Galleries remit as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).  The post-holder will be responsible for the efficient administration and coordination of all programme evaluation, Arts Council England reporting and delivery of the NPO programme and related partnership liaison. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city during the City of Culture year. 

 The main responsibilities of this role:

•    Coordinate Bradford Museums' NPO activity with day-to-day responsibility for management and effective implementation of the programme ensuring proposals meet the Arts Council’s agreed outcomes and Investment Principles.
•    Work with Bradford Museums' NPO Board in coordinating the development and delivery of all plans including costing, quality of outputs and critical path management.
•    Support the Business Support Officer (BDMG) in the preparation and presentation of Board papers, budget reports and Arts Council reports as required to meet the terms of the NPO funding agreement
•    Provide monthly reports to the Museums & Galleries Manager to ensure delivery within budget and to the standard required.
•    Facilitate team meetings and coordination of Activity Plan delivery strands of the NPO programme.
•    Work with the Board and Museums & Galleries team to build relationships with key stakeholders, including identified community groups, statutory, education and voluntary sector partners to facilitate partnership working opportunities. 
•    Manage all associated programme budget control, communication and consultation
•    Coordinate and collate evaluation data for all NPO funded events and activities and record them in the monitoring and evaluation reporting template
